Second Saturday Ballard Artwalk
Ballard’s wonderful Building C studios are open, and you should stop in! I will be showing my work in the studio of the fabulous Jennifer Stenhouse. With a possible repeat appearance of Simon the Flying Reindeer, who stole the show last year. :) Some 40 Artists will be showing and selling their wares, so this might well be your one-stop shop for finishing up your gift list… !
- Date: Dec 13th
- Location: 4818 14th Ave NW in Ballard
- Time: 12pm-9pm
Filigree Workshop at Pratt Fine Art Center
Learn to create beautiful wirework and improve your soldering skills! In this one-day workshop, you will learn new strategies to approach a common metalsmithing challenge: soldering ‘big’ to ‘little.’ We will explore new ways to construct with wire to create forms that are lightweight but strong. We’ll then work with different soldering methods, including chip solder, paste solder, and dry powdered solder. You will then construct a simple filigree piece of your own. Prerequisite: this is an intermediate-level course, so some experience with soldering is required

Beginning Jewelry and Metalsmithing at Pratt Fine Art Center
Designed for total novices and those who need a refresher, this class covers all of the basics of sawing, filing, hammering, soldering, punching, riveting, texturing, and more. What could be better than ending your weekend playing in the jewelry studio? (Nothing!)
New 10-week Format – this new format will give students shorter, more intensive 3-hour classes (which end at 9pm, not 10pm), and an extra 2 Fridays for Open Studio. I highly encourage all of my students to take advantage of the Friday sessions, as the ‘lab time’ to practice what you learned is invaluable.
We always have fun in my class – come join us. Sign up directly on the Pratt website.
