{"id":910,"date":"2011-02-26T21:43:17","date_gmt":"2011-02-27T05:43:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/wp\/?p=910"},"modified":"2011-02-26T22:06:26","modified_gmt":"2011-02-27T06:06:26","slug":"peggy-is-teaching","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/wp\/2011\/02\/peggy-is-teaching\/","title":{"rendered":"Peggy is Teaching!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" title=\"Opal Pendant\" src=\"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/OpalPendant_515.jpg\" alt=\"Opal Pendant\" width=\"247\" height=\"247\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This just in!\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m teaching a workshop on Filigree, starting at the end of March!<\/p>\n<p>People ask me all the time if I&#8217;m a teacher &#8212; probably because I&#8217;m such a process nerd.\u00c2\u00a0 Seriously.\u00c2\u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t take much to get me started on metals technique, and it&#8217;s truly impossible for me to give a short answer when someone asks me how something is made; I try, and I can usually give SOMETHING succinct, but then people always ask more questions and well I can&#8217;t seem to help myself&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>(don&#8217;t you understand??\u00c2\u00a0 It&#8217;s SCIENCE!!)<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;ahem.\u00c2\u00a0 So I have been putting together a few syllabi for classes I&#8217;d like to teach, and one of them has been picked up by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tacomametalarts.com\/Classes.html\">Tacoma Metal Arts Center<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 TMAC is run by my fabulous colleague Amy Reeves, herself an amazing teacher and metalsmith (and something of a process nerd as well).\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ve known Amy for several years; she&#8217;s taught at Pratt and she is active in the metals community.\u00c2\u00a0 A couple of years ago she founded her own teaching facility, which is just an awesome space.\u00c2\u00a0 Super excited to be teaching a class there!<\/p>\n<p>The class is on four consecutive Thursday nights, starting on March 31st; the cost is $165, plus I will have silver wire available for purchase.\u00c2\u00a0 We&#8217;ll be making open wirework pendants, earrings, and brooches like my <a href=\"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/wp\/2011\/01\/opal-pendant\/\">Opal Pendant<\/a> (above) or my <a href=\"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/Production_Jewelry\/Pages\/Guiding_Star_Pendants.html\">Guiding Stars<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 Then we&#8217;ll expand on this technique, by filling in those open spaces with delicate fine wires like in <a href=\"https:\/\/peggyfoy.com\/Production_Jewelry\/Pages\/Guiding_Star_Pendants.html#5\">this example<\/a>.\u00c2\u00a0 (Please pardon the fugly image; needs to be re-shot, and how!)\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be bringing more samples to class &#8212; and will probably take the opportunity to take better photos while I&#8217;m at it.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tacomametalarts.com\/Classes.html\">See the TMAC site for full details and registration.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Can&#8217;t wait can&#8217;t wait!\u00c2\u00a0 Tell your friends, particularly if they live in Tacoma!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This just in!\u00c2\u00a0 I&#8217;m teaching a workshop on Filigree, starting at the end of March!
